Very interesting observation. I think there are two reasons as to why this shift occurred. One is that genuine conservative, religious values are practically non-exist on the right wing at this point. The few true conservatives that are left have virtually no power or voice, so it’s almost as if they don’t exist.

The second reason, and the one that explains the left’s outrage culture best, is identity politics. It’s the “us vs them” mentality that (I think) the article you posted talks about. I’ve talked about this before, but it truly is a pernicious theme that keeps coming up again and again. With Joker it’s about white males, with toxic masculinity it’s about males, with political terrorism it’s about right-wingers, etc. It’s always about trying to score against another group.

Conservatives worrying about violence and sex on TV might have been over-the-top, but at least their worry came from a moral place. There is no morality or sense of true justice from the leftist outrage mob. It’s all about getting as much power as possible for their groups, regardless of the method. That’s why it astounds me that people still talk about cultural marxism as if it was a baseless conspiracy theory. It’s manifested everywhere and in the most obvious ways.
