I believe it’s always been that way because of evolution. Men are replaceable, women are not. A lot of societal trends are influenced by mere human nature, and this is one of them.
One of the accomplishments of civilization has been to impede the objectively unjust and harmful effects of this. Institutions like marriage and traditional gender roles were created very specifically to maintain societal order.
The downfall of these institutions has left all these problems unchecked. Sexual liberation and hookup culture has returned us to the days where 80% of men get all the women. Giving women the right to vote allowed them to amass disproportionate political power due to their inherent value in human procreation (which translates to societal and political leverage. It would be naive to say it doesn’t.)
I’m not saying that women shouldn’t vote or be allowed to be sexually active, but we must acknowledge the consequences of these events. If religion and/or conservatism still played an important role in society, social liberation could be made possible while also being kept in check. But, of course, the eroding of institutions like marriage and gender roles came as a result of the fall or religion and traditionalism. They are intricately connected.
I went on kind of a long tangent here, but it’s very relevant. Nobody listens to men anymore because there is no reason to listen to us. More specifically, there’s no reason to care about men who aren’t among the elite. it’s ironic, because when the common man suffers, society suffers. When average men feel hopeless and purposeless, society crumbles. We’re seeing small signs of this here and there, but it’s only the beginning. There’s much more to come.
